[ When Koby visits the library on May 4th, he will be given a letter by the worker who scans books at the front desk. The dusty envelope is addressed, in neat, loopy cursive:
"FOR KOBY!!! In the event of the death or disappearance of Tim Laughlin"

Hi Koby,
Hopefully the librarian remembers to give this to you. Even more hopefully, it won't ever be necessary, but if you have this, then it is. I'll try to keep it short.
If I'm gone from this place, I want you to know that I love you and I will remember you always. I know you think I can't. But I know that I will. And I'm gone, so I get the last word, so there. I'm sure you're sad to see me go, but you still have Quentin and your crew and I know you'll all take great care of each other. So try to keep your chin up. If we're moving on to heaven after this, I'm sure I'll see you again. You are braver than you think you are and a lot stronger than I am. You'll be alright. I couldn't have asked for a better friend.
If I'm dead, then I guess I'll see you soon. There's a ring on my right middle finger that should have all the evidence you need to figure out who or what hurt me. Please retrieve it before they bury me, and do NOT let Hawk insist on handling it himself.
Either way, take care of him for me, okay? He's gonna be an ass and try to push everyone away and drink his way through it. Do it anyway please. For me.
