I have a few theories about that -- I think time passes differently in places like this, so we could be here for weeks and weeks, but the real world doesn't move at all.
That's true. But yes, they've been very Communicative. Which is weird. I don't trust it. But at least they're feeding us and giving us comfortable places to sleep.
No, that was our worry at first. Just some creepy circus, though.
but people would remember when they got home and say something?
for a prison they sure do talk a lot. they're probably reading all this too, they did give us these things. and i would sleep on the ground and be uncomfortable if it meant being out of here.
I don't know. It seems to depend, in the books I've read. Sometimes people remember, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they initially remember and then start to forget. It's sort of an upsetting thought, isn't it?
I agree, they most likely are. They already know I don't trust them, though, I've said it often enough. It IS dangerous here, though, with the wolfman and the other things. But it doesn't seem to be totally the Balfours causing that? I don't know. Some people think they brought us here to make us happy.
You guys REALLY don't like him, wow. I never really heard what happened -- Zoro and Nami would just mutter about how much they hated "that fucking clown".
makes you wonder just what can do that, i don't think even a devil fruit could give someone that much power. i'm still gonna punch them when i find them.
i don't believe they brought us here to be happy. i was already happy before i woke up here. being stuck here is the opposite of that, though i can't complain when i have friends here.
he is really annoying! though he helped us out once, because i stole his head and kept it in a bag. but that was important. buggy didn't think twice about trying to wipe out orange town and keep the people prisoners there and he made them watch his shows and forced them to clap and laugh and stuff. and he talked bad about shanks.
[Koby momentarily considers advising Luffy to not immediately go to punching, but – in his defense, that usually works? At least that he’s seen.]
It seems like it might have gotten out of hand? They were really scared when all the wolfman stuff was happening, and they went RIGHT to fire to “purge” the place, which is pretty extreme. It’s probably wise to be cautious around them.
[And not punch them, hint hint…]
I guess that makes sense. You’re a pirate, you want to be free to make your own choices and go where you want and do what you want. Then again, that’s not just a pirate thing. Everyone wants that. Are you happy anyway? At least sometimes?
In a bag. [Okay…] I thought there was maybe some sort of weird history there. Shanks is impossible to get a straight answer out of, though.
i think we can be much scarier than any wolfman if we put our minds to it. and it'll take more than fire to deal with us.
(Nope. All the punching.)
i haven't spoken to anyone here yet who wants to stay if they have a choice, but there's a lot of people here. i am happy we are fed and safe, but at the end of it all we still have to do what we're told. there's no way home that we've found yet. i don't think it's right for me to be happy too much, as a friend and captain, when my friends are being played with.
i can tell you what happened, you're always helping us out with information so i can share this one. he attacked our ship because we found a map, you remember at shells town? anyway he knocked us all out and kidnapped us, and held us hostage because he wanted the map. he'd ruined a town just to set his tent up or whatever it was. anyway we finally beat him and freed the prisoners, didn't see him again until baratie and then arlong was keeping his head hostage in a bag. so i swiped it, cause buggy knew where arlong's hideout was. he did at least show us where to go but then ditched us when the fighting started again.
he talked awfully about shanks, lied about him. and buggy's show was awful there wasn't even any popcorn. what kind of show doesn't have snacks?
The four of you, maybe. Plus Shanks. [Notably, neatly removing himself from that equation – Koby still thinks of himself as a liability, rather than an asset.]
But you’re right. Being here isn’t the same as being home – not the same freedom, not the same ability to make our own choices. It’d be easy to get too comfortable here, to not try and figure out how to escape. Way too easy. Still, I don’t think it makes you a bad Captain to be happy here. Some of the time. There have to be things here you like.
I remember the map. I remember worrying about how many pirates would come after you because of it. It sounds like that was a wise concern. He really has a whole SHOW? Where he makes people clap for him? That seems…
(Gently scolds in return. Please, Koby is definitely on the friend list.)
the food is okay and it's free. bed's a bed. and the people here can be fun too. it isn't a bad place, but the reason for it is bad.
maybe but if we didn't go there and we didn't get caught we wouldn't be where we are now. or were before we came HERE here.
big show, with all kinds of show people throwing knives and breathing fire. something about a lion? but we never saw him he didn't show up. sad really, i wanted to see the lion.
yeah the townspeople were shackled up and someone would hold up a sign that told them when to laugh or to clap. i'm glad we fixed that. oh and don't let him fool you if you ever see him, he's a devil fruit eater.
I mean -- I wouldn't be an asset, yet. I only just started working on getting stronger and being useful in a fight. It's not like you and your crew, yet. I've seen you fight, remember? It's Still the most amazing thing I think I've ever seen.
No, you're right. I think it definitely is. I've been trying to enjoy the parts that are good, but I don't think this place being pretty and luxurious and whatever means it's safe. We're still trapped here. We still don't know why. I'm not giving up until I figure that out.
Why would they promise a lion and not show a lion? Was the lion ever real? I've never seen a lion. [No, wait, important things, this is a terrible story, move on from the lion, Koby.]
You fixed it. You saved them. I knew it. I knew you'd never do anything to hurt people, not on purpose.
but it's not about fighting, it's about being a crew. usopp hates fighting and he's an amazing crew member, and so would you be. if we all did the same thing it'd be pretty boring.
thanks! i keep hearing i'm sloppy at fighting. maybe i should train?
we'll find a way out. for everyone. :)
and yeah, we got a shock when we found that out. he ate a chop chop fruit so when you go to cut him he just sort of detaches....?
You think I'd be a good crew member? Of YOUR crew? Really? [Listen, if Koby says he hadn't thought about it, he'd be lying, but...]
You're very Energetic? When you fight? I don't think that's necessarily "sloppy". But more training is never a bad idea. There's a nice enough gym here. I go every morning.
That is A really weird power. And I've seen YOUR powers. No offense. I'm guessing that's why you could carry his head around?
totally! everyone likes you and you're really efficient at things i'm not. why wouldn't you be a good crew member? ( Luffy is baffled Koby could ever think otherwise. )
you're not wrong. i punched him and his head flew off, i thought i'd killed him for a minute!
yeah we let him out of the bag occasionally, and he would talk or sing shanties. moment he got his body back at arlong park he bailed.
cw: gore
It just sort of feels like a weird dream now. I can't say I always PREFER what this place does, but it's been fairly safe thus far.
Zoro was -- some circus towards the end, tried to dissect him. He got out, but he has scars, still.

not sure a wolf and fire is safe, but they gave us notice which sounds more than what the last place would have done.
a circus? was it buggy?

That's really gross.
He could still talk and sing and all that? How does
No, nevermind, I don't want to know how it works.
Of course he did. Pirate.
no subject
definitely gross. he can just detach things and move them around and they all float in the air. makes you wonder what else he can do?
yep. talking head. he was with us, and his body was miles away on the conomi islands. when he got close enough just pop, back together.
